Aishwarya Rai with Saif Ali Khan will be in Vishal Bhardwaj's next?

Aishwarya Rai with Saif Ali Khan will be in Vishal Bhardwaj's next?: Vishal Bhardwaj has completed working on his Saat Khoon Maaf; now the maverick director wants to fulfill his long cherished desire of working with Aishwarya Rai and has approached her for a film with Saif Ali Khan.

Though both Saif and Ash are established stars, never has a filmmaker approached them for a movie. Vishal has already worked with Saif and gave him the role of a lifetime, Langda Tyagi in Omkara, but unfortunately he couldn’t team up with Ash. It’s believed that he’s been trying to rope in Ash for the last 14 years but never a project could appeal to the actress.

As per reports, Vishal recently met Ash with the movie’s script at a Juhu bungalow where the Bachchans generally conduct business meetings. The director also had other two scripts for her, one is said to be adapted from Shakespeare’s celebrated tragedy ‘Hamlet’.

The hopeful Vishal is trying to woo the actress for various projects, at least she can say yes to one.

Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek at KHJJS premiere

Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek at KHJJS premiere: Actor Abhishek Bachchan, along with his wife Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and director Ashutosh Gowarikar, attended a special screening of his recently-released film 'Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey' (KHJJS) here on Sunday evening.
Prior to the screening, the cast interacted with winners of ITC Fiama Di Wills Facebook contest organized to promote the film.

Speaking to the media, Gowarikar said, "I am very much pleased to see the response here. My film is completely based on Manini Chatterjee's book 'Do or Die'.

"As to my imagination, Abhishek resembled the persona of Master Da (Surjyo Sen). We don't have any footage or pictures of Master Da. So I imagined his body language and matched it with Abhishek. And the outcome is in front of you all. In short, the core of this film is the young generation who took revolution to the zenith".

Junior Bachchan sounded very excited on his new on-screen avatar of a freedom fighter.

"Surjyo Sen is a natural hero. But such a great name has almost been forgotten. Sixty-four people showed resistance to the British rule, of which 55 were merely boys," said Abhishek.

"Master Da is an iconic figure and each and every one should know his fight to independence. So to me, Ashutosh Sir has completely done justice by making a film on such a legend. Now the whole of India, rather the whole world will come in terms to what he did for India's independence," he added.

The film is based on Chittagong Uprising of 1930.

Aishwarya now performing as 'Bua' at her home for few months!

Aishwarya now performing as 'Bua' at her home for few months!: Aishwarya Rai has decided to stay at home for two months and help her bhabhi (brother Aditya's wife) Srima with her baby boy, who was born on November 26.
She will avoid most public appearances in the next couple of months, as she wants to spend as much time as possible at home. She will only attend those she had previously committed to. Says a source, "Post-Guzaarish, she missed the promotions so she could be with her sister-in-law.

Everyone is very excited about the baby, Ash more so. She had warned all her producers, organisers and media manager about the situation." She will play the doting bua to the hilt in real life now.

After a while Says a source close to Rai-Bachchan, "She deliberately finished all her film assignments by October. And she has not signed any film after Guzaarish.

She will finalise her next batch of films with Vishal Bhardwaj, Shyam Benegal and Madhur Bhandarkar after two months."

Confirms Aishwarya, "I've just been travelling and shooting, of late. Now I'm taking time off to be with my sister-in-law and her baby." About her plans for 2011, she adds, "I don't think too far ahead. Every time I plan, I end up not implementing it. When I did Devdas in 2002, I had promised myself I'd work in a more phased manner.

I am yet to live up to that promise. If you remember, I married in the middle of my career. After that I took time off for my family. I had technically kept three months off. It turned out to be six months of no movies."

Aishwarya Rai faces a barrier in her profession?

Aishwarya Rai faces a barrier in her profession?: Bachchan bahu Aishwarya Rai may be one of the leading actresses of Bollywood but she has never quite been able to shed her inhibitions and become a real pro. This is the age where actors like Aamir Khan go to any extent to provide authenticity to their characters.

But Aishwarya’s coyness may have proved a hurdle to a free-flowing more exuberant acting career. Unlike Angelina Jolie, with whom she is often compared, Aishwarya is not comfortable about screen intimacy.

Aishwarya has never really been able to shed her reservations and in a 15 year career, she has only given one liplock (in Dhoom 2 with Hrithik Roshan). Besides she hasn’t indulged in much of a skin show.

While it’s understandable that her ethics and morals don’t permit her to go bold, in the current era of high-tech gadgets, even an Indian actress is showing no qualms about kissing their co-star (take for instance the likes of Kareena Kapoor, Deepika Padukone or Priyanka Chopra).

However, in Aishwarya’s favour, one must say that she is married and is therefore edgy about doing explicit scenes. But it’s a puzzle why her moaning scene in ‘Guzaarish’  was scissored down at the last moment on her request? Of course, her hubby is liberal and intelligent enough to understand the demands of modern cinema. But then, it also highlights the Indian principles and morals that are deeply seeded inside Aishwarya.

So, do you think you would like to see a little more liberal approach by the former Miss World?

Hrithik Roshan as Hamlet and Aishwarya Rai as Ophelia for their next?

Hrithik Roshan as Hamlet and Aishwarya Rai as Ophelia for their next?: It’s a long-cherished desire of Vishal Bhardwaj to make a film with Aishwarya Rai.
But things couldn’t work out between the two in the past, and now after the release of Guzaarish, the director has once again started nurturing the thought to work with the actress; Paired with Aishwarya will be none other than Hrithik Roshan. Vishal, Ash and Hrithik indeed will make for a terrific combination. But what’s the script about?

As per sources, after adapting two Shakespeare dramas, Vishal wants to complete his trilogy with the Bollywood version of Hamlet. He apparently wants Hrithik to play the character of Prince Hamlet Of Denmark, and Aishwarya his ladylove Ophelia.

Vishal’s previous Shakespeare adaptations Maqbool and Omkara received rave reviews and are considered to be his best work. Always known to work with talented actors and actresses, the director has approached both the stars with the Hamlet idea. Will they give their nod?

Aishwarya Rai says no for explicit lovemaking scenes in film ‘Heroine’!

Aishwarya Rai says no for explicit lovemaking scenes in film ‘Heroine’!: If not Kareena Kapoor, then who else in Heroine? The diva like Aishwarya Rai who is now a Bachchan bahu may have reservations about saying yes to the film.

So the producers of the film Heroine seem to be more concerned about the actress’ inhibitions than the movie’s storyline.

Madhur Bhandarkar’s dream project about a screen diva and her turbulent life, Heroine continues to sail into rough waters.

The director wanted to have style icon Kareena for the film but as the actress has turned down the project, Aishwarya might step in. The producers UTV have approached the actress but want Madhur to delete explicit lovemaking scenes from the film which were also the reason for Bebo backing out.

Madhur will be meeting Ash with the script but only after he has made necessary changes to it. Probably UTV fears Ash’s denial and are playing safe, we guess!

It’s learnt that the movie’s storyline resembles Bebo’s relationship with Saif Ali Khan and his children from former wife.

Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai latest scandal on net!

Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai latest scandal on net!: Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai have always maintained a distance ever since their relationship soured following a public spat between Salman and Vivek Oberoi.
After that image-tarnishing scandal, Aish and Salman are no longer on speaking terms and the scars are as fresh as ever with no respite in sight. Recently, Aishwarya skipped touring the Bigg Boss house (to promote Guzaarish) as Salman was anchoring it. She even stayed away from ‘Action Replayy’ promotion in KBC because the crew members were playing for the benefit of ‘Being Human’ charity which was a Salman Khan initiative.

In short, the two try to keep miles away from each other. But in the latest episode, Salman has shown his Dabangg side once again by organising a special screening of Aishwarya’s latest film ‘Guzaarish’.

Salman and Guzaarish director Sanjay Leela Bhansali are close friends and the film-maker wanted an honest opinion from Sallu about his latest celluloid outing. And Salman not only humbly accepted the request but also organised the screening for his entire family.

Salman, of course, was very touched and overwhelmed by what he saw. And even though, he never mentions her openly, he must have silently applauded his former love for her brilliant portrayal of Sophia the nurse.

Guzaarish Movie Review on Bollywood3000

Guzaarish Movie Review on Bollywood3000: Savagely aesthetic, at times magical, at times pretentiously arty, and generously littered with melodrama that tugs at your heart one moment and cloys your senses the next, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s latest creation Guzaarish is a movie not to be missed for its visual splendour and a jaw dropping performance by Hrithik Roshan.
The aesthete and auteur in Bhansali levitates to a new high in this genre-defying piece of cinema that is clearly inspired by more than one foreign film, not excluding the Oscar-winning Spanish film The Sea Inside and Christopher Nolan’s The Prestige. But credit to Bhansali, who, for all the inspiration, still makes Guzaarish his own with his peculiar brand of theatricality (for which he’s often bum-rapped), uncompromising approach and a lot of heart and soul, not to forget the poignant tunes which he himself has composed.

The film tells the story of Ethan Mascarenhas (Hrithik), a bed-ridden, wheelchair-bound quadriplegic who used to be a magician once but has spent the last 14 years of his life as a breathing vegetable confined within the musty walls of a run-down villa somewhere in the rain-soaked Goa. Sophia, (Aishwarya Rai) his nurse for 12 years, bathes him, feeds him, brushes his teeth, scratches his nose when he’s itchy, and also bears his tantrums. Ethan’s only connect with the outside world is his radio show ‘Hello Zindagi’ which he jockeys.

Ironically, the man who tells others to embrace life seeks to end his own. He fights a legal case to be allowed euthanasia, or mercy killing, to end his long suffering. Ironically again, the people who stand beside him willy-nilly in this struggle are the ones who love him the most - his lawyer friend Devyani (Shernaz Patel), his doctor (Suhel Seth), his apprentice (Aditya Roy Kapoor), his mother (Nafisa Ali), his former lover and assistant (Monikangana Dutta) and, last but not the least, Sophia, whom Ethan regards as “more than a friend, lover and even wife”.

But the question is - will the court go against the constitution and grant Ethan his wish, his guzaarish?

Viewers may use a little psyching up before sauntering into a screening of Guzaarish. Bhansali’s fascination for dark colour tones isn’t unknown since his award-sweeping Black and the blue-shaded Saawariya which was an absolute clunker. Guzaarish, with excellent cinematography by Sudeep Chatterjee, carries forward Bhansali’s penchant with the nocturnal hues. The story unspools at a sluggish pace and often streams into tear-jerking episodes and flashbacks as the protagonist’s life as a magician extraordinaire is etched out.

For the most part, Bhansali retains a firm control over the narrative, but seems to go overboard in a few sequences, like the courtroom arguments and the group hug in the climax which turns out to be unintentionally comic. These warts are all but compensated for by the awesomely shot magic sequences.

More than the director, it’s Hrithik Roshan who steals the show with his humdinger of a performance. Solely through his facial expressions, eyes, and voice modulations, Hrithik brings to life the character of a self-mocking, life-embracing, death-seeking character who’s exuberant one moment and depressed the next. It would be pity if Hrithik doesn’t sweep the best actor trophies in the award season early next year. Aishwarya Rai, looking stunning in low-neck costumes that are no doubt incongruous with her character of a nurse, is in form once again. Shernaz Patel goes overboard in a few scenes and so does Suhel Seth. Aditya Roy Kapoor, the guy with a frizzy mop on his head, performs well. Monikangana is there for only two scenes.

Summing it up, Guzaarish, despite its warts, could be the best film of 2010. More than its awesome visuals, it’s the message of the film that wins you over. In pursuing his own death, the film’s hero teaches us a few things about life itself: “live fully, forgive quickly and kiss slowly”. It is Bhansali’s toast to life. Grab it. Lip it. Neck it. Be drunk with it.

Guzaarish is like a sorround sound of 'Romeo and Juliet'

Guzaarish is like a sorround sound of 'Romeo and Juliet': To enhance the on-screen chemistry between Aishwarya Rai and Hrithik Roshan, filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali has decided to include material from Franco Zeffirelli's 1968 classic screen adaptation of "Romeo and Juliet" in his forthcoming film "Guzaarish".
Zeffirelli's cult blockbuster had catapulted Olivia Hussey and Leonard Whiting to instant stardom and made Shakespeare's tragic romance a worldwide bestseller. Bhansali decided to incorporate original dialogues from Zeffirelli's film, forcing his efficient but flabbergasted team - many of whom had never heard of Shakespeare, let alone Zeffirelli - into a worldwide hunt for the material.

Producers UTV suggested that searching out and acquiring rights for the original Shakespearean dialogues in the voice of Olivia and Leonard at this late stage when "Guzaarish" was approaching release could prove to be tough.

But Bhansali was adamant. And with reason.

Explains the perfectionist director: "I wanted a correctly intense reference point for Hrithik and Aishwarya's feelings and conversations. I though the sentiment of thwarted passion and smothered intensity of star-crossed lovers in 'Romeo and Juliet' expressed my protagonists' inexpressible feelings very well.

"So yes I've included dialogues from Zeffirelli's Romeo and Juliet in my film."

But why Zeffirelli, whose "Romeo and Juliet" came 41 years ago, when those Shakepearean lines have been done a million times since then?

Says Bhansali: "To me Zeffirelli's version of 'Romeo and Juliet' is the ultimate tribute to Shakespeare's love story. So many times I've wanted to do my own version of 'Romeo and Juliet'. But one look at Zeffirelli's film makes me feel I can never equal his beauty, grandeur, harmony and principal casting. Where I'll find as perfect a Romeo and a Juliet as Leonard Whiting and Olivia Hussey?"

Was it easy getting permission to use material from Zeffirelli's film?

"Not really. We had to seek out people who were either long gone or in retirement. But I was adamant. This was my only chance to pay a homage to one of my all-time favourite screen romances," said Bhansali

Aishwarya Rai smoking in 'Guzaarish': Doctors protest for Youth

Aishwarya Rai smoking in 'Guzaarish': Doctors protest for Youth: A lot of posters showing Aishwarya smoking are being used to promote the film that’s slated to release on Friday. The medical community thinks these images give a wrong message to the youth who are most likely to imitate the Bollywood stars.
To show their protest, the members of Doctors For You, which is a non-profit organization, will wear black badges on Friday, the day Guzaarish releases. Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali has rubbished the reports about Ash turning a smoker for the film.

He says the scene shows Ash trying to smoke but coughing in pain after just one drag from the cigarette. So, according to him, in no way does the scene endorse smoking.

Aishwarya Rai's Action Replayy to get honor by Oscars library

Aishwarya Rai's Action Replayy to get honor by Oscars library: Filmmaker Vipul Shah’ s latest release Action Replayy, which hit the screens on Diwali last week, opened with an average response. But now, Shah has got into real action as something lucrative and honorable has come on his way for the film.

Reportedly, the Library of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences (Oscars) has asked producer Vipul Shah to give the screenplay of the film for permanent script collection in the archive of the Academy.

Vipul Shah and Aatish Kapadia has jointly penned down the screenplay of Action Replayy. Looks like their hard work paid off. This invitation reached Shah last week and he has acknowledged this honor.

Time to celebrate for the team of Action Replayy. The film took us back to the 70s featuring Askhay Kumar and Aishwarya Bachchan with their amazing on screen chemistry. They last worked together for the film Khakee (2004). However, not much of their compatibility was shown in the film. Nevertheless this time, the expectations were really high from them. Critics might not have relished the servings of 70s but its worth has been realized by the great Academy.

The hard work of the team will now bring them some real good moments when the script of Action Replayy will be used for teaching the film students. It is definitely a big achievement for sure.

Aishwarya upset from her back to back film releases

Aishwarya upset from her back to back film releases: Ash was under pressure to be on reality show! The latest buzz in tinsel town is that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was pressurized to make her appearance on TV reality show for the promotion of her films “Action Replayy” opposite Akshay Kumar and “Guzaarish” opposite Hrithik Roshan.
An insider while speaking to news daily stated “There was considerable pressure on Aishwarya to be on these reality shows for her two back-to-back releases.” The insider told further, “But she is very clear about her dos and don`ts. Being on reality is a complete no-no for her. She did make an exception for Akshay`s ‘Master Chef’. But no song and dance reality shows for Aishwarya.

He said, “And no game shows. Two weeks ago she stayed away from ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ as part of the promotion for ‘Action Replayy’.”

Again he said, “This week Aishwarya refused to go on the popular music contest ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa’. Hrithik Roshan had to go alone.”

Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali completely respects Aishwarya’s decision.

Is Aishwarya Rai better to replace Kareena in ‘Heroine’?

Is Aishwarya Rai better to replace Kareena in ‘Heroine’?: Exasperated by Bollywood sassy babe Kareena Kapoor’s repeated requests to tone down the steamy scenes in ‘Heroine’, Madhur Bhandarkar is left with no option but to find a suitable replacement of Bebo and what better than Aishwarya Rai Bachchan!

Given the fact that Kareena’s current work commitments make her busy for more than a year, Madhur recently had a covert meeting with Aishwarya to woo her for ‘Heroine’.

Buzz has it that Madhur does not have much time as his producers want to start with the project – with or without Kareena. However, it’s Madhur who is desperately waiting for Kareena’s approval. Apparently, Kareena too wants to work for Madhur but is unable to adjust her jam-packed diary for ‘Heroine’.

However, given the gravity of the issue, Madhur downplayed the news of his meeting Aishwarya. Talking to a daily, Madhur said, “I`m still busy with my film and have no time to meet anyone. I will start meeting people soon.”

Meanwhile, a source said, “Ash has never done a movie in which she was a second preference. Let`s see what Madhur can do and who he can rope in if Kareena falls through.”

Who will be Madhur’s heroine – will it be Kareena or Aishwarya? Watch this space soon!

Love Making Scene between Aishwarya Rai and Hrithik Roshan in 'Guzaarish'

Love Making Scene between Aishwarya Rai and Hrithik Roshan in 'Guzaarish': Aishwarya Rai and Hrithik Roshan indulged in the passion play of an altogether different kind while shooting for a scene in director Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film Guzaarish. Since Hrithik plays a paraplegic who can’t feel a thing below his neck, a typical lovemaking scene between him and his nurse, played by Aishwarya, was clearly out of question.
What director Bhansali incorporated rather was a mock lovemaking scene, in which Ash gives a massage to Hrithik’s foot to ensure proper circulation of blood. That’s when Hrithik begins to feign the moans and sighs of sexual ecstasy. Ash too takes the cue and makes lovemaking noises - the oohs! and aahs! - in the scene.

In this way, the couple pretend having sex while not being physical at all.

According to Bhansali, the scene is funny rather than titillating.

Aishwarya Rai Interview: i play best role in the industry!

Aishwarya Rai Interview: i play best role in the industry!: Aishwarya Rai, who plays a 'typical' girl of the 1970s in the retro comedy " Action Replayy", says she didn't try to imitate any particular actress, but picked from the looks and mannerisms of all reigning heroines of that era.

"There isn't any particular actor whom I followed. In terms of visual styling, make-up and hair, there are lots of actresses from that time. There is no signature reference of any particular actor of that time. It's a collage of all actors," Aishwarya, 37, told in an interview.

Preceded by serious roles in period films like " Umrao Jaan" (2006) and " Jodhaa Akbar" (2008), it was the word 'retro' that caught her attention when the film was offered to her.

Aishwarya reveals that "Action Replayy" was originally a play by the film's director Vipul Shah himself, and he did not deviate much from the original script.

"It's wonderful that I had so much of period films to do and yet they are all different. When Vipul said he wanted to do a retro film, the word retro was quite catchy. He didn't call it historical era, period piece, pre-independence, he called it retro era," she said.

"The moment you say retro, we all go into the 70's. I instantly knew it was different," she said.

"It's a fun genre. Vipul was very clear about the film he was making. It was a play that he made several years ago. He was very clear in his narrative, and didn't want to change anything except when most necessary. Of course, we improvised, but not that much, because Vipul was clear about what each character was supposed to do," Aishwarya said.

The actress said though it's a comedy film, she got enough scope to exhibit her acting skills.

"This film gave me the opportunity to do something. We have pushed the envelope even in the comedy genre, where we have revisited another era. Of course, visually there are aspects of styling, make-up and costume, and there are nuances in acting. As my character is very boisterous in the beginning of the film and then becomes mellow and feminine, we have spoofed it in the acting style of that time," said Aishwarya.

Did she ask for tips from her parents-in-law Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan?

"No, I didn't sit with Ma or Paa because, like Paa has always said, your work speaks volumes. You need not sit with them and literally speak. You have their films to refer to," she said.

Aishwarya feels her career has come full circle in the past two years as she is doing films with directors she worked with in her initial days.

"I am thankful to get such good roles in my career. It's a blessing and there are lots of very good memories and they were fulfilling," she said.

Amitabh Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai dance together at KBC

Amitabh Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai dance together at KBC: Big B is still making waves despite nearing the seventh decade of his life. His ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati-4’ has been garnering TRP’s rapidly leaving almost all the reality shows far behind.

Known for his politeness and witty conversation that sparkles with wisdom and profund knowledge, Mr. Bachchan himself cannot be likened to anything frivolous at all especially not when he is on the sets of KBC  trying to help the contestants win the booty of 1 crore with an additional option of winning five times more at a single go.

The entire country therefore stared in surprise when they saw the huge superstar of yesteryear put on his dancing cap for the ladli bahu of his family. Yes! You got it right! Amithabh Bachchan proceeded to shake a leg to the tunes of ‘Zor ka Jhatka’ a song from ‘Action Replayy’ starring Aishwarya and Akshay Kumar.

The audience seemed to be regaled at watching the Big B himself get up from his seat and proceed to jive along with his Bahu and co-star. A wonderfully entertaining moment to say the least! The festive season undoubtedly makes everyone light headed not to speak of being light on their feet.
