Akshay Kumar: 'Tees Maar Khan' is a full funny movie

Akshay Kumar: 'Tees Maar Khan' is a full funny movie: Akshay Kumar really needs a hit (film) under his belt to keep his career graph from downward slide.

His safest bet is Tees Maar Khan, co-starring Katrina Kaif and slated to release on December 24. Given the fact that Farah Khan, its director, has had an impeccable success record at box office (her two films Main Hoon Na and Om Shanti Om have been big hits), Akshay is hoping that TMK would set the cash registers ringing. Moreover, being a Farah Khan film, it packs laughter galore for movie buffs.

Akshay plays a conman who manipulates people and situations to his advantage. The character has been given punchiest one-liners to mouth.

“This is a fun character, full of enjoyment. He is a conman and so there is a lot of mischief. The character is actually very shrewd. He always tries fooling people because he wants to make it big. He never does anything himself; he makes people do things for him. I haven’t done such a fun and frolic role for a long time,” Akshay is quoted as saying by a news agency.

Adding that TMK is a full-on comedy film, Akshay said he’s not against doing serious films. But it’s just that people don’t come to theatres to watch serious stuff anymore.

“If you ask me whether I would like to do a serious film, yes, I would love to do serious roles, serious characters. Unfortunately, it doesn’t work. No one comes to see serious films. All look for fun films,” Akshay said.

This year, Akshay has had two releases: Khatta Meetha and Action Replayy. Both were flops. Akshay says though he’s not disheartened by flops, he does crave for a hit film.

Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif 'jodi' now overexposed?

Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif 'jodi' now overexposed?: There was a time when a complaint was making rounds that Akshay-Katrina 'jodi' had been overexposed, case in point being 'Singh Is Kinng', 'Welcome' and 'Namastey London', all of which had come in quick succession. Later, even though the pair was seen only sparsely in films like 'De Dana Dan' and 'Blue', it was being stated in the industry circles that the hit couple would be doing many more movies together.
However, this didn't quite happen as Akshay and Katrina didn't sign any new movies thereafter. The only film which would now bring them back in front of audience is 'Tees Maar Khan' and that would be more than a year after 'De Dana Dan'.

Says Shirish Kunder, the film's co-producer, "We had done the calculations while signing on Katrina. To begin with we wanted a newcomer who had to be someone like Katrina. Then we thought why not Katrina herself? After all between 'De Dana Dan' and 'Tees Maar Khan', there was no film planned with the two together. A one year gap is substantial enough for audience to crave for more."

Today when the 'jodi' is being received with open arms all over again, the makers can't help but feel elated.

"Guess we just turned lucky here," smiles Farah Khan, "Audience is pretty much anticipating this 'jodi' to ignite the screen all over again and I am sure they won't go home disappointed."

We hope so too Farah.

Sonakshi Sinha with Akshay Kumar will be seen in future

Sonakshi Sinha with Akshay Kumar will be seen in future: After making her debut opposite Salman Khan in Dabangg, Sonakshi Sinha is now ready to play Akshay Kumar’s love interest.

The girl will be the female lead of Shirish Kunder’s next film as director, Joker. Shirish has so far directed just one film, Jaaneman which tanked at box office. Now, Shirish is ready to wield the megaphone again.

“The film will go on floors in January 2011 and will be released around Christmas the same year,” Kunder said.

Shirish is apparently taking a big leap with this film and making it in 3D.

“It's a tale of a bunch of underdogs fighting for victory. There will be humour, some sci-fi and it will be made in 3D,” he said.

Joker will reportedly be produced by Akshay. The film’s remaining cast is still to be finalized.

Akshay Kumar will like a new successful Khan of Bollywood?

Akshay Kumar will like a new successful Khan of Bollywood?: Aamir Khan, Shahrukh Khan, Salman Khan and Saif Ali Khan- we already had 4 major Khans ruling the tinsel villa of Bollywood. And Mr. Akshay Kumar was always living under the garbs of ‘Khiladi’  right since the commencement of his career nearly 2 decades back.

However, after living with the tag of Khiladi, now Akshay is donning new cloaks and getting under the guise of a Khan. Akshay’s next film ‘Tees Maar Khan’ is digging a deep frenzy amongst the masses with snippets and trivia flying from desktop to desktop on a regular basis.

Tees Maar Khan, directed by Farah Khan has been making news for quite some time thanks to a clever Farah and this is touted to be the biggie this Christmas.

Akshay plays a Robin Hood-like robber in this action cum romantic caper and his title of ‘Tees Maar Khan’ has become a hit both with his fans and his friends.

These days, his acquaintances have started referring to him as ‘Tees Maar Khan’ and this new title has pushed away his Khiladi avatar to the sidelines. After the unveiling of the item number ‘Sheila Ki Jawani’ in which Katrina Kaif’s sexy side has been well explored, the film is getting plethoric eyeballs.

But will our new Khan be as successful as the older ones? We shall know this 24th December. Meanwhile Akshay can pompously shout from the rooftops, ‘My name is Khan’ (and I am not a terrorist).

Katrina Kaif took scolding in her own stride

Katrina Kaif took scolding in her own stride: Katrina Kaif kept Akshay Kumar waiting when the duo were supposed to address the press together after the music launch of director Farah Khan’s film Tees Maar Khan aboard a train from Chhtrapati Shivaji Terminus to Lonavala.

When Akshay was ready to talk to the press, Katrina slipped away. Reports say she had gone to touch up her make-up but sources close to the actress insist that she had gone to the last coach of the five-coach train to get something warm to wear as the air conditioning in the train was turned up.

Whatever the reason for her absence, Akshay did not miss the chance to chide her, jocularly though.

We hear that Kat took the scolding in her own stride as she and Akshay are always on good terms.

Travel in Train: Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif go on for 'TMK Music Launch'

Travel in Train: Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif go on for 'TMK Music Launch': We can understand Farah Khan’s love for means of transportation. She had shown Shahrukh Khan doing stunts pedaling a rickshaw in Main Hoon Na; she made Malaika Arora and SRK to dance on a train top for the song Chaiyan Chaiyan (as choreographer) and then for the Om Shanti Om concluding song she chose an autorickshaw for herself to appear on big screen during credit roll.
Now, the director along with Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif and crew members of Tees Maar Khan will travel in a train from Mumbai to Lonavala to launch the film’s music on Sunday, November 14. Since Tees Maar Khan has a train heist, the director preferred to do it on a train. Farah likes to try out something different.

What Akshay has to say about this?

“I am really looking forward to the train journey to Khandala. I will be taking on a train journey after a long time - more than 20 years,” the star was quoted as saying by a tabloid.

So, getting a train just for the music launch, it must have cost a bomb! Yes, it’s expensive. Farah also has to wait to get permission from the Indian Railway. The whole train will be decorated by the posters of the film.

On the whole, it’s going to be full on fun for the travelers; the media will also join in!

Tees Maar Khan Pictures: Akshay Kumar,Katrina Kaif return in style

Tees Maar Khan Pictures: Akshay Kumar,Katrina Kaif return in style: What happens when a conman and an item girl meet! Katrina Kaif and Akshay Kumar are back in a stylish, spicy comedy directed by Farah Khan.
A conman, Tees Maar Khan is in love with an item girl. If Kat has toned her bod to look fab as a saucy item gal, Akki is looking young and funky in colourful shirts. The hit pair of Bollywood has delivered a string of successful films, and cashing in on their sizzling chemistry, Farah has made the couple look hot, setting the screen ablaze. Tees Maar Khan is one of the biggest films of the year, releasing this Christmas.

Tees Maar Khan Movie Trailer, Picture Perfect Akshay with Katrina Kaif

Tees Maar Khan Movie Trailer, Picture Perfect Akshay with Katrina Kaif: Tees Maar Khan is ready for release and director Farah Khan has promised that Sheela Ki Jawani will be the biggest hit of the year. We are sure that Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif and Akshaye Khanna are eagerly awaiting the release of the film, just like the rest of us.
Akshay Kumar plays Tabrez Mirza Khan, Akshaye Khanna portrays Atish Kapoor, Katrina Kaif stars as Anya Kapoor and there is a special cameo appearance by Salman Khan who appears in a song in the move along with Akshay and Katrina.

As for Sheela Ki Jawani we hear that it is erotic and raunchy and that Katrina has done some breathtaking belly-dance steps.

Tees Maar Khan will be releasing on December 24th. Now its time to watch trailer.

Sonakshi Sinha, Akshay Kumar in 3D Technology Film 'Joker'

Sonakshi Sinha, Akshay Kumar in 3D Technology Film 'Joker': The ‘Dabangg’ actress Sonakshi Sinha is one lucky female who got a chance to debut with Bollywood’s heartthrob Salman Khan and now she will be seen opposite the stunt hero Akshay Kumar. The film in the question is Shirish Kunder’s 3-D movie, ‘Joker’
Sonakshi Sinha is thrilled to share screen space with Akki so early in her career. If everything falls in the right place then this would be Sonakshi’s second project with Shirish, the first being ‘Kick’ opposite Salman Khan.

A source close to Sonakshi said, “Sonakshi is thrilled to be a part of a 3D film so early in her career. Shirish and Akshay have already briefed her on the subject.”

Katrina Kaif, Akshay Kumar to draped fans in 'Tees Maar Khan'

Katrina Kaif, Akshay Kumar to draped fans in 'Tees Maar Khan': Tees Maar Khan that stars the ravishing Katrina Kaif and the hunky Akshay Kumar has now started doing the telly rounds in our idiot boxes.

After the trailer leaked online, now it has been released and its first look has dug up some serious interest.

Here’s why, Tees Maar Khan is generating so much furore:

1. Firstly, Katrina and Akshay meet again (on screen that is) and so crackling is their chemistry that the audience don’t seem to have enough of them. After their mushy romance in Namastey London, Singhh is Kingg and Welcome, Tees Maar Khan brings them back together and we can expect romance to drape us yet again.

2. Secondly, the film is helmed by the now-mighty Farah Khan who has previously directed the big ‘Main Hoon Na’ and the magnum opus ‘Om Shanti Om’.

3. Also, the storyline is seemingly interesting and intriguing. As per reports, Akshay plays a baddie in this caper with a generous heart (more like a Robin Hood) and has his own panache of eluding the cops. Going by the looks of it, this may well be a cross between ‘Dhoom’ and ‘Dabangg’.

The film is slated for a Christmas release of 24th December, 2010. No Aamir Khan this Christmas, guys! But Katrina and Akshay would be more than handfuls.

Akshay Kumar, Aishwarya Rai's Action Replayy Movie Review

Akshay Kumar, Aishwarya Rai's Action Replayy Movie Review: Now, this was really a zor ka jhakta, and it came from the blue. Vipul Amrutlal Shah and Akshay Kumar have had a pretty clean sheet working together.
Be it Namastey London or Singh Is Kinng (which Shah only produced) the duo has provided entertainment to the masses whenever they teamed up together. So the audiences are bound to have rocket high expectations particularly when the theme of their latest film is intriguing as to take us back to the glorious 70s, when bell bottoms, side burns, hippie hairdos and polka dots were all the rage.

Akshay has once again been turned into a goofball, with buckteeth and thick spectacles. He’s derided by his overbearing father (Om Puri) as ‘gadha’ (donkey), and quite rightly so, for he’s a gutless wimp who shivers and shakes at the very idea of facing up to his fiery padosan (Aishwarya Rai). In one scene he holds her hand and gets an electric shock as potent as the bolt of lightning. He’s also the butt of every joke played by his shrewd rival-in-love (Ranvijay Singh).

On paper, the transformation of this simpleton into a dude may sound interesting, and with Akshay at the helm, it might have been a topnotch laugh riot. But it is not. For one thing, the script is so shoddy and plotholed that you can pass a whole time machine through it. Secondly, Akshay’s comic timing hasn’t been capitalized on. There are no punchy dialogues, hardly any potent humour and lot of unnecessary and forgettable songs (Pritam) in between.

Story? Bunty (Aditya Roy Kapoor) is tired of his perpetually quarrelling parents Kishen and Mala (Akshay and Ash). On their 35th wedding anniversary, when a surprise party thrown by Bunty turns into a slugfest between his parents, he decides to travel back in time to set a few things right. He goes back to 1975 when Kishen and Mala were neighbours and hated each other. Bunty’s mission is to make his parents fall in love so that they could live happily ever after. And he does that by transforming the wimp Kishen into a swashbuckler.

Borrowing nuggets from Back to the Future, Vipul Amrutlal Shah tell a tale that simply lacks vim and vigour. The sequences when Ash pulls a fast one on Akshay are dull at best. The writing is of mediocre quality sans any laugh-worthy moments. Ranvijay’s character is mostly running from pillar to post to win Ash’s love. Om Puri and Kirron Kher’s characters have almost been turned into caricatures. Even Ash’s tomboy act is overdone.
Akshay isn’t half as hilarious as when he’s in form. His spineless Kishen may evoke sympathy, but no laughter. In one scene when a baleful Ranvijay and his sidekick Raghubir Yadav corner him and threaten to strip him, Akki crawls on the floor and pleads: “Bhagwan ke liye mujhe chhod do”.

Aditya Roy Kapoor gets a lot of footage and the lad is pretty comfortable playing the love guru. Neha Dhupia’s character has no purpose in the script. Perhaps the director owed her the promise of another role after Singh Is Kingg.

In short, Action Replayy disappoints. If you are looking for entertainment during this festive weekend, this film may not be the best idea.

Akshay Kumar donating Rs. 50 lakh for Salman Khan's 'Being Human'

Akshay Kumar donating Rs. 50 lakh for Salman Khan's 'Being Human': Akshay Kumar has loosened his purse strings by donating a substantial amount of money to the ‘Being Human’ charity run by Salman Khan.

Akshay and Salman were recently seen bonding on the sets of Tees Maar Khan and now the friendship between them has only got thicker. Akshay has donated a whopping amount of Rs. 50 lakh to ‘Being Human’, evoking a gesture of gratitude from Salman.

“Yeah !!! Akshay Kumar has donated 50 lakhs to Being Human, our charitable trust. Thank you Akki . I think everybody should tweet and thank him,” Salman wrote on his Twitter page.

When it comes to charity, the film stars sure do show alacrity.

Akshay Kumar to Promot his new film ‘Action Replayy’ in KBC

Akshay Kumar to Promot his new film ‘Action Replayy’ in KBC: Akshay Kumar, the man with the muscle of tinsel town, is all over the place these days. Right from his massive reality show on star plus, ‘Master Chef’, to the promotional strategies for his forth coming Vipul Amrutlal Shah’s ‘Action Replayy’, the audiences just can’t get enough of him.
Reports about the man getting into real action to promote his flick in the much coveted ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ are spreading like wild fire, as this seems to be just the show that is going to amazingly effective in pulling the audiences to theaters.

The most amazing aspect of the film is being said to be the fact that it is based on the retro 70’s style, when Twinkle’s dad, Rajesh Khanna was a phenomenon in the world of entertainment and showbiz, and there are still many stories, which are told about what an alarming number of fan following the super star had during those days!

Even Big B, who has worked with Rajesh Khanna in two of the most mind blowing films, ever to have been made, one is of course ‘Anand’, and the other ‘NamakHaram’, and in both the films, Rajesh Khanna’s character dies, has time and again, said that Rajesh Khanna, who has been the first ever super star, was simply the most extra ordinary star ever to have stepped into the industry!

Thus, to have action  and culinary master, Akshay Kumar playing the most amazingly  challenging  mind game with Big B,will certainly be one historical phenomenon, and so will the film ‘Action Replayy’,be remembered to get these two amazing stars, together on the big platform of ‘KBC4’.

Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna
Akshay will soon be seen hosting the show MasterChef on Star Plus. While shooting an episode, the actor chatted with one of the contestants whose husband openly admitted that his wife keeps him under control.

Akshay was quick to reply: “Mujhe koi sharam nahi hai ye maanate hue ki ghar mein meri biwi bhi mujhe poore control mein rakhti hai (I don't shy away from admitting that my wife keeps me under control at home).”

The star also joked that he might be a black belt in martial arts but in front of his wife “meri saari belt uttar jaati hai (My belt loses its relevance).”

LOL! Wah Akki! Nice sense of humour!

Akshay Kumar’s female fans go out of control

Akshay Kumar’s female fans go out of control: When Akshay Kumar  was recently mobbed by a gang of girls, the actor was left sans his jacket. The gaggle of female fans didn’t give Akshay as much a breather! But he wasn’t furious.
The star of Action Replayy was recently at a club as the DJ, playing retro music from the 70s as part of promotional campaign for the film. The Bollywood hunk was dressed like a 70s hero, wearing a retro classic black jacket with gold lining. Akki not only played some cool music there but also clicked photos with his female fans; the group of girls kept pressing him for pictures.

But soon they went out of control and Akki lost his jacket as a result of their jostling and shoving. Later the actor couldn’t stop laughing about the incident; thankfully he was wearing a skin-tight black top under the jacket. Director Vipul Amrutlal Shah, who was also present there, confirmed the news.

Want an action replay, Akki!

Akshay Kumar Injured after playing deejay!

Akshay Kumar Injured after playing deejay!: Akshay Kumar  was reportedly injured in a melee as he made his way out of a club Saturday night after doing the honors as deejay to plug his upcoming film Action Replayy.
Akshay sustained minor injuries on his arms, legs and back as he, his co-star Aditya Roy Kapoor, and director Vipul Shah made their way out through an irate mob of fans who had been denied entry into the club.

Luckily, Akshay's leading lady in the film, Aishwarya Rai, wasn't with him as planned.

The two were scheduled to play their favorite songs from the 1970s to promote their film, an ode to the era. However, Aishwarya dropped out and Akshay went ahead with the planned promotion alone.

Fans began to gather at the club as news spread that Akshay was there. The star had planned to stay for just 20 minutes but stayed much longer, which turned out to be a mistake since fans kept pouring in.

The small club was soon filled to capacity and the staff locked the doors, which infuriated the young fans. They started to pelt stones, shattering glass and breaking furniture.

Akshay and his party made their way out through a back door where there was a smaller crowd.

Askhay seems to have taken the incident in his stride. The news wasn't immediately reported because Akshay told his party not to talk about it.

"Achcha nahin lagta. They were well-meaning fans," Bollywood Hungama quotes him as saying.

"Hota hai. It was good fun. I got to play my favorite John Travolta track," Akshay added.
